It has been a few years since we have written a letter. So, here is a quick update on what’s going on with the Benners...
Todd: In addition to running his business, he stays busy as the newest member of the Manchester Town Council (a long story), serving as the Ward Welfare Specialist and Elders Quorum instructor at church, and coaching the Manchester Youth Wrestling Team. He looks forward to having the boys join the team in a few years.
Christine: With numerous activities for the children, piles of laundry, homework, volunteering at the elementary school, and serving in the Relief Society Presidency at church, it’s a wonder that she keeps her head above water. Yet, she manages all of this and plenty of other unseen tasks that keep the zoo moving forward. She truly is the heart of our sometimes chaotic, but always fun home. In her spare time, Christine has been brushing up on her piano skills (see below) and putting together a blog for our family (please visit and feel free to post comments).
Afton turned 8 this year and was baptized on her birthday! We enjoyed the special day with family and friends. She is in the 2nd grade and LOVES to read. Afton has become quite the artist. She won Honorable Mention for a piece of artwork that her art teacher submitted into a local art show – all the “drawing” on walls that occurred in earlier years might be paying off! She also enjoys playing the piano, doing gymnastics, and playing tennis and basketball. She is usually a little reserved at first but will talk your ear off if given the chance.
Leah turned 6 in October and started Kindergarten this year. She is quickly learning how to read and is a whiz at math! This is Leah’s first year of piano lessons and she and mommy are playing a duet at her Christmas recital (mommy is more nervous than she is)! Leah is our resident hard-worker – she is always willing to pitch in and help and actually seems to enjoy doing the dishes. We’ll see if that lasts. Leah also takes gymnastics and, as a matter of fact, prefers cartwheeling to walking.
Nicholas is 2 and FULL of personality! The things he comes up with always keep us laughing. His version of Queen’s “We Will Rock You” can be found on our blog – it is well worth the visit. He loves to play with his cars, wrestle with Daddy and play basketball. He is potty training right and doing a pretty good job. The target is almost always in sight – it’s the aim that needs some tweaking.
Noah is such a little angel. He is very good natured and quiet, he seems to be trying to take in all that goes on around him. He will turn 1 year old on Christmas Day! He cruises all over the place and is sure to be walking soon (no rush though)! He is very patient with his big brother and has already proved himself to be a pretty tough wrestler – well at least he is able to take all of Nicholas’ “hugs” without crying!
At this special time of the year when we celebrate our Savior’s birth, we wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!
